As part of our World Book Day celebrations, the school staged a special assembly this week. Mr Juckes and other staff performed a short drama piece based upon Of Mice and Men. The aim was to continue our encouragement of reading throughout the whole school.
Many students and staff took up the opportunity to attend the assembly dressed as their favourite book character. As you can see from the picture gallery below – we had some very inventive costumes! Book tokens were handed out during the assembly to help encourage our love of books at Turney School.
We very much value guided reading with our pupils, both at school and at home. We were very pleased to see many parents and school governors attend the World Boook Day assembly. Many thanks for your continued support. It really makes a major difference to spend just a short period each day assisting guiding reading at home.
