Orange Class have continued to be incredibly busy across the whole curriculum with many new ideas and experiences being enjoyed. Sorting has been the key topic for Orange Class during our maths lessons. We have looked at different concepts such as big and small, short and tall or heavy and light. Working with a series of objects, Orange Class pupils have been invited to sort these items using these categories.
Our literacy work has been based around our brilliant class reading book, Going to the Moon. The children have had some wonderful role play sessions, acting out what it must feel like to be an astronaut. We have used this drama activity to help with our vocabulary development, by then asking the pupils to describe their experiences.
There is some crossover with this space theme and our current science topic looking at forces. We have been keen for the children to understand the difference between a push and a pull. Working in pairs, the pupils have used a number of moving objects to help demonstrate the difference between the two concepts.
Finally our art topic in Orange Class for the start of the spring term involves looking at different colours. As well as identifying these differences, we have asked the pupils to describe some of the feelings that each colour may bring.
