Purple Class are having great fun exploring their new science topic all about sound. We have started off this work in a very practical way by encouraging the children to find out how we can make sounds using some of the resources in the classroom.
Some children have been playing with the electrical toys at Turney School that are able to make a noise. We wanted the Purple Class pupils to find out for themselves where we turn on the toys to help make a noise, and then also how to stop this noise.
Other children have enjoyed playing with the more traditional Turney School musical instruments. We offered up a free choice for the children as to which instrument they would like to look at. We wanted the children to be able to identify how the sound is made – do we need to hit the instrument with a beater, or can we shake it to hear a noise?
