The Secondary School pupils at Turney have had plenty of enthusiasm as we continue with our weekly singing and signing assemblies. This is a great opportunity to show our love of music at the school, as well as to start the new school week on a Monday morning with our friends from around the school.
Miss Tovey welcomed the students to a recent assembly. It was commented that all staff were very impressed with the progress made during the first week back after the Christmas break. Miss Tovey reminded the students that we need to carry on in the same way, working hard and showing great listening skills.
Certificates of achievement were then handed out. Each certificate praises the pupils for excellent attendance and fantastic work each week.
It was then time for Miss G to lead the singing and signing assembly, with some superb signing help from Debbie as well. We asked the children to try and guess which two songs we would be rehearsing today. What a Wonderful World and Stand by Me are both current favourites at Turney School.
We went through a short warm up exercise involving plenty of stretching and shaking. Some singing in the round took place, and the pupils were then ready to perform.
Miss G concluded the assembly by explaining some of the work that we will be carrying out over future weeks during our singing and signing assemblies. The next song that the students will be learning is When a Man Loves a Woman.
