Recent science work in Class 9EG at Turney School has seen the pupils learn all about different bird species. We have seen how we can define a particular type of bird by looking at the food groups that they eat.
This learning started off with a PowerPoint presentation. The Picture Exchange Communication system was then used to help reinforce this information. Some of the class members using a picture board to describe the food types that each bird was eating. Another group used a list of words to sort birds into different categories.
This has been an exercise that has introduced a new vocabulary to the pupils. Some tricky words have bee learnt, such as carnivorous, grainivourous and herbivorous. You can find out a little more about this science learning in the short video above.
