Yellow Class Phonics Learning at Turney School

2

The Yellow Class children at Turney School have been using their daily guided reading time to help improve their phonics knowledge of CVC words. These refer to words that are made up of three letters.

Different resources are used for this learning. The children find it helps to use large letters to help with their word formation. They are asked to experiment with the letters to create a word.

Class teacher Anna works one on one with the pupils, asking them to speak at the phonic sounds that are contained in the letters. The words are then added to our guided reading books.

Elsewhere in Yellow Class and the children have been very busy this term on a number of school trips. We had a wonderful time at the nearby Vauxhall City Farm just before the half term break.

Future trips are already being planned for the V&A Museum of Childhood were we will be learning about the seaside, and the Science Museum where the children will experience a special sensory bubbles workshop.
