Secondary School Students Enjoy West End Lion King Trip

A number of secondary school students at Turney School recently enjoyed a wonderful West End performance of The Lion King. This special trip was organised as part of our literacy learning for the autumn term. The pupils have been preparing for the show by understanding more about the characters and the plot.

There was great excitement ahead of our afternoon trip to the famous Lyceum Theatre. The students were also able to see some of the Christmas West End sights as we made our way to the show.

English learning has continued back at Turney following the Theatre visit. The students have been writing recounts of their West End afternoon out. This is a wonderful way in which to sequence the events of the trip.

Particular attention has been paid to punctuation. Each class member has also been asked to consider what was their favourite part from the performance. The students are asked to read out their own work, and then consider how they could make further improvements to their writing.

You can listen to one of the confident secondary school students sharing her Lion King thoughts in the short recording below.
