Class 10EG have started a new geography topic learning about the rain forest. We started our research by understanding why this is such an important environment. The students have been learning about medicines that are made possible because of the rain forest. We have also seen how important the rain forest is for many animals.
This work has developed to look at deforestation. We have defined this as the clearance of the rain forest to suit other needs. The students have considered reasons such as making furniture, paper and fuel.
Table work has been completed to help explain the structure of the rain forest. Pupils have created diagrams showing the five levels: the forest floor, the shrubs, under storey, canopy and the emergent layer.
