Celebrating Bowie in Singing and Signing Assembly

A recent Secondary school assembly celebrated the birthday of David Bowie. The students are all familiar with Bowie’s Starman song. We rehearsed this song whilst learning about famous British musicians. Today seemed like the perfect moment to sing Starman once again!

Music teacher Miss G reminded the pupils of the words. Staff member Debbie was on hand with her superb signing skills. This all led to a beautiful celebration of Bowie’s birthday. We even had some dancing at the front of the assembly!

Miss G asked if there were any other requests. Lordan was keen to sing Don’t Go Breaking My Heart. Another pupil was able to identify that this was performed by Elton John and Kiki Dee.

The assembly finished by singing happy birthday to Wesley, celebrating his birthday on the same day as David Bowie.
