Class 7MA have been thinking about positioning, directions and movement as part of our recent maths lessons. This was a very practical session with many tasks for the pupils to take part in.
One of the activities involved an understanding of forwards or backwards. We observed a staff member walking in one of these directions. Class 7MA were asked to display a card showing either forwards or backwards.
Another piece of work looked at the difference between left and right. A sorting exercise involved the pupils deciding if a picture of a person had them holding their left or right arm in the air.
A final table activity focussed on under and on, or between and next to. Class members were given two small pots and a collection of small plastic dinosaurs. They were then asked to place the dinosaurs either under or on a pot, or between or next to a pot.
