Year 12 Work Experience at Herne Hill Velodrome

The Year 12 students have resumed their weekly cycling sessions at Herne Hill Velodrome. This is an amazing facility that is right on our doorstep. Our friends at Wheels for Wellbeing very kindly help out the students with their cycling needs.

An incredible range of bicycles are available for the students to ride. These make the sessions inclusive and accessible for all our students to enjoy.

The Turney sixth formers thought that it would be a good idea to give something back as a thank you to our friends at the Velodrome. We volunteered one morning after our cycling to help paint three picnic benches at the track.

Class teacher Mr Jones asked the students to treat this activity as a taster session ahead of our work experience programme. We made sure that we were safe by wearing protective clothing, gloves and glasses.

The pupils were asked to listen to the instructions provided by Mr Jones. Guidance was given to help paint the benches using the correct technique. We were proud to be able to handover three freshly painted picnic benches at the end of the session.
