A Busy Summer Term in Lime Class

The Lime Class children are settled well into their daily routine and have been working hard on their learning objectives. We start each morning with a snack session. This is a chance for the pupils to socialise with their friends. The Picture Exchange Communication system is used to help request food.

Each class member has their own timetable to follow. This helps the pupils to be prepared for the learning and activities ahead. The class members are expected to take responsibility in organising their work. They collect the resources that they need for their table activities.

Some of the pupils have been working on phase 3 of their phonics learning. Our current focus is on the use of the oa sound.

Our main class reading book is Swimming by Leo Lionni. This deals with issues about diversity to help the pupils understand how we are all different.

Lime Class are also continuing with their weekly trips to Brockwell Park. We have been observing the changing seasons and the affect this has on the plants.

The pupils are also enjoying their regular trip to the nearby Cafe Lulu. This is part of our life skills learning. Each class member orders their food and snack, and then makes the correct payment.

We are continuing to visit the local supermarket every Friday. The pupils prepare a shopping list for the food tech ingredients that we will be cooking with back in class.

A busy time in Lime Class!
