The Turney Sixth Form students have started work on improving their basketball skills during the first few PE lessons of the autumn term. PE teacher Mr Jones has been giving the students some help on how to throw and catch the basketball. We have seen how having ‘soft hands’ makes it easier to handle the ball.
The students worked in pairs to throw and catch a ball between a set distance for a minute. The number of completed catches was recorded. We will be working on improving these.
A second activity involved the students bouncing a basketball from one end of the court to the other. Mr Jones gave some coaching on how high the ball should bounce as we move. Our session finished with some basketball shooting skills.
