Class 10RH Explore 2D and 3D Shapes in Maths

Class 10RH have started a new maths topic learning about shapes. We started our work looking at 2D shapes. Some of the higher ability students will then progress to 3D shapes.

The main learning objective is to understand the properties that we can find in different shapes. The students have been counting the number of sides and corners in a 2D shape to help with the identification.

This knowledge has then been used to identify shapes that we can see around us in our everyday lives. Examples have included pizzas and different designs of sushi.

Table work for some of the students has focussed on the spellings for each shape. Another group has been sorting items into big or small shapes. A final task involved colour sorting some shapes.
