All staff and students were very sad to say farewell to our fantastic staff member Sue ahead of the half term break. Sue has worked at Turney School for many, many years. She has always put the safety and learning of the pupils first.
To honour such a grand occasion it was decided that Sue deserved her own special leaving assembly. She was escorted into the school hall by Head of School Miss Tovey and Deputy Head Miss Karpik. A spontaneous round of applause broke out from the students!
Every happy occasion needs some music and celebration. Our singing assembly Leader Mark led the way by calling on students to come to the front and share our love of music and appreciation for Sue.
Two songs were performed. You’ve Got a Friend in Me became You’ve Got a Friend in Sue! What a Wonderful World was rejigged as the pupils sang What a Wonderful Sue.
One of the Year 11 students presented Sue with a bouquet of flowers. These had been bought earlier in the day during a special shopping trip organised by Class 7AV.
Sue was a little emotional at this point. She did pass on some very wise words to the students, asking them to continue to support one another.
With the formalities out of the way it was then time for a school party! Everyone headed outside into the early summer sun. Food tech teacher Barbara has been working with students throughout the week to prepare some special party food.
This was a great opportunity for friends to come together ahead of the half term break, and to thank Sue for everything that she has achieved at Turney School.
Happy retirement, Sue. We will all miss you so much.
