Secondary School Singing and Signing Assembly

Staff member Mark started a recent Singing and Signing assembly by asking who felt happy? Many pupils made the makaton sign for happy. Thankfully we didn’t have many students showing the signs for sad, angry or worried.

The next task was to look at the calendar for the week ahead. Mark explained that some key events were taking place such as Food Safety Week, British Heart Foundation Week and Diabetes Week.

Mark warmed up the pupils with a movement break, and then we sang Happy Birthday to Jean Paul. Staff member Catherine helped the students with the sign for birthday cake.

It was then time to sing! Two uplifting versions of Don’t Go breaking My Heart and Stand By Me followed. The students were dismissed back to class by the Head Girl and Head Boy whilst we listened to We Are the Champions to inspire us for the learning ahead.
