Animal Classification in Red Class

Red Class are learning about animal classification for the first half of the new autumn term. The pupils are learning how to identify mammals, fish, birds and amphibians. We are looking at features such as wings, furs, feathers and fins to help sort animals into the correct group.

The pupils have also started some research on animal environments. We have seen why certain animals like to live in a particular place.

This learning will be backed up with regular visits to Brockwell Park. We will observe the local wildlife to see where animals such as ducks, squirrels and birds like to live.

Our main class reading book for the first half of the term in Red Class is Three Little Wolves and the Big Bad Pig. This is a twist on the traditional story. The children will use the storyline to understand more about the power of kindness.
