Class 11JE have been working on improving their counting and matching skills as part of their maths learning at the start of the new Turney School term. Miss E and her maths team have set specific aims for each student, depending on their ability.
Some of the class members have been working on improving their counting skills from 1-10. This is a very visual activity involving plenty of carefully prepared resources. The students have been looking at picture cards containing a number of animals. These are then counted out either verbally, or by pointing at each animal.
The next task then involves matching up the correct number of animals with a similar image on a picture board. Similar variations of this task then follow, all involving different pictures and resources. Most of the students are able to recognise the number of animals that they are counting, and then are successfully able to communicate this information to an adult.
