New Starters in Silver Class

Silver Class have welcomed two new pupils to our class for the start of the spring term. Both of our new friends are settling in well, and starting to feel comfortable with the routine of the Turney School day.

Our main reading book for the new term will be Old MacDonald. This is a story that contains many different farm animals that the children will be learning all about. We have already made a Silver Class display to help the children recognise the animals in the story.

This work will continue with the speech and language learning in Silver Class. The children will be working with the Picture Exchange Communication system to help match up the names of animals with the correct picture.

Elsewhere and the first few PE lessons of the new term has involved the Silver Class children exploring the school trampolines. The main learning intention is for the children to feel confident and perform independently. Adult supervision is always at hand so that everyone is kept safe. Most class members are now able to start and stop their movements.

The children have also been introduced to food tech learning as well for the first time. The school food tech team have been visiting Silver Class once a week with a series of activities that aim to increase awareness and confidence when preparing simple snacks.
