Silver class had great fun during our weekly singing assembly. We use this occasion to help the younger members of our school community to improve their use of signing and communication. We usually start off the assembly by saying hello to one another, as well as introducing any special friends or guests that are joining us for the afternoon. We then encourage different class members to choose a song, using the Communication in Print system. The children in Silver Class have had great fun reading and exploring Walking Through the Jungle, our main class-reading book for this term. We have been learning about the different animals that live in the jungle, describing what they look like, as well as the different sounds each animal makes. Silver Class has its very own mini-jungle, with some brilliant class puppets helping us to explore how the animals in the jungle play with each other. We have also been dressing up in animal costumes, and singing plenty of animal songs.

We have been spending the first few weeks of the new school year helping the children to settle in around Silver class. We have been introducing the children to the routine of the school day, understanding when we go out to play, and when we eat our lunch etc. The children are also getting familiar with the adults around the school, and feeling happy and comfortable in their new environment. We are also greatly enjoying our weekly swimming sessions at Brixton Rec.
