Now that summer is finally upon it, attention has turned towards athletics for our Class 7 P.E. sessions. We have been focussing on the art of javelin throwing, and how skill is just as important as strength, to achieve in this event. The pupils warmed up for the activity by bending their legs and taking up a comfortable stance. We learnt how it is incredibly important to achieve a sense of balance before throwing the javelin. We also observed some basic safety rules, by marking out a safe place where the non-throwers has to stand behind. The pupils experimented with their throws, to come to the conclusion that the javelin will travel the furthest distance if it is thrown upwards. We then set individual targets, and tried to improve on our throws each time. You can watch a brief video of the Class 7 athletes in action above.
