Our Class 11 pupils are continuing to make tremendous progress as they work towards their GCSE Art Foundation qualification. Our recent work has helped us to understand the importance of Black History Month. We have asked the pupils to research and explore the work of some of the leading black artists, or black subject matter.

This led to the discovery of the famous image of Barrack Obama as produced by Shepard Fairey. Some of our pupils have been creating their own piece of artwork inspired by this image. We traced out the main outline using a thick marker, and then added in some bright acrylics to bring the subject matter to life. You can hear about the work being explained in the podcast below.
