Purple Class have produced some amazing pieces of artwork during our recent D & T sessions. The learning intention was for the pupils to see how different materials contain different properties. This includes not only appearance, but also the way in which the material feels and how strong or weak it is.
We gave the Purple Class children the opportunity to choose from a selection of different materials. These included tissue paper, string, wool, wood and cloth. We encouraged the class members to explore the material and to experiment with it. We found that some types of material were able to be torn apart, whilst others had to be cut with a pair of scissors. We then used the different forms of material to create some colourful Purple Class collages.
