Blue Class Shapes

Blue Class

Blue Class have been demonstrating some wonderful work during recent maths lessons looking at the properties of 3D shapes. This is an incredibly complex piece of work with many new terms and concepts to consider.

We have been helping the pupils with different methods for correctly identifying each 3D shape. Attention has been paid to the number of edges, how many faces a shape might have or how many corners we can see. Spheres, cubes and cuboids have all been looked at.

Blue Class have successfully been able to explain how each 3D shape has a number of different properties. We are going to develop this activity throughout the remainder of the summer term. We will be playing a game which involves the pupils feeling a shape that they can’t see in a large black bag. We will be inviting the children to explain what they can feel using the new 3D shape words that we have been learning.
