Purple Class have been having a highly creative time as we use artwork to help us with our literacy learning. The children have been singing the Wheels on the Bus. We wanted to create some pictures that help us to remember some of the ideas and colours that are used in the song.
We have used this work as an opportunity to encourage the Purple Class children to make their own independent choices, and more importantly to be able to communicate these to an adult. Each class member has been working with a selection strip showing Communication in Print words. Requests for a particular colour of paint are made using this system.
Purple Class have produced some artwork for all of the characters and features that are mentioned in the song. This includes the babies, the bus door and even the window screen wipers. We use repetition when describing what we can see. It also helps that we have plenty of singing whilst we are painting!
