Class 11 Art

Class 11

Self-identity is one of the main topics that the new Class 11 students will be researching as part of their art learning at Turney School. This is a project that will help the pupils to think about their own backgrounds and interests, and then to express these through art.

We have started off this work by looking at the identity of some famous artists. Class 11 have been learning about the life of Vincent Van Gogh. The students have observed his famous self-portrait, and then tried to understand what type of character he might have been.

As part of our self-discovery each pupil has started to produce a colourful outline of what defines each of us as individuals. Interests, favourite food or physical appearance have been incorporated into our designs.

We will be looking at the work of Slinkachu to help us with this project. This is an artist who creates miniatures of people, and then places on location and photographs them.

The Class 11 pupils are working towards designing and creating a miniature representing their own images. These will then be placed at various locations around Turney School and photographed as part of this project.
