New KS1 Start for Purple Class Children

The Purple Class teaching staff have spent the first few days of the new autumn term at Turney School helping to welcome the new pupils to the Key Stage 1 level of learning. This is quite a major change for many of the children as a new level of learning will now be introduced.

Many learning activities have been planned by the Purple Class teaching staff. Our maths work will involve number recognition. Literacy learning will be focussed around phonics phase 1. This involves plenty of speaking and listening activities. Brown Bear and Rumble in the Jungle and will be the main reading books for the children.

The science learning in Purple Class will look at how sound travels, and how we are able to hear. Plenty of iPad activities will take place as part of our ICT learning. Geography activities will involve the children exploring the school environment. Music lessons will look at how we can use instruments to help improve the motor skills of the children.

A busy term of learning ahead for the Purple Class children!
