Summer Term Learning in Silver Class

The Silver Class children have started their first swimming lessons as Turney pupils at the start of the summer term. Each week the whole class makes the short journey to Crystal Palace pool.

As well as the swimming, these sessions are useful for helping the children to feel comfortable in their own community. The teaching staff help Silver Class to feel confident when using public transport, and to understand what is safe and acceptable behaviour.

Back in the classroom and our main science topic for the start of the summer term has involved learning about plant growth. Each class member has planted some dill seeds. These have now started to grow after some regular watering.

We have also started reading a new book for the summer term. The children are learning about the many different animals found in Walking Through the Jungle. The Silver Class children have been learning how to recognise the sounds that each animal makes.

Finally we would like to mention the fantastic time that the Silver Class children had on a recent trip to the East Dulwich Picture House cinema. We were kindly invited to a screening of an autism friendly screening of The Good Dinosaur.
