The new Turney School Year 12 students recently baked a mixture of different tasty cakes as part of our continued food tech learning. Chocolate cookies, fruit cookies and sponge cakes were all on the menu.
Different skills were required to help complete the task. The students needed to listen and follow instruction carefully. Once the mixtures had been weighed out, another skill was mixing. The students were asked to judge if their cake mix was the right thickness.
It was also important for the pupils to understand how we can use a variety of ingredients to help create something new. Makaton was used throughout the session to help improve the communication skills of the students.
