Lime Class Science Fun with Volcano Explosions

Lime Class have been creative with their science volcano learning. We have been looking at how volcanoes form, and the impact that they might have on people and animals.

This led to the pupils then creating their own volcano models. These were sculptured using paper mache. They were painted once the paper mache had set.

Now it was time for the real fun: a mock volcano explosion! Lime Class added a mixture of vinegar, bicarbonate soda, water, washing up liquid and food dye to create a safe explosion. The children were asked to describe what was happening as these explosions took place.
