Class 7MA Bread Baking and Decoration

Class 7MA have been busy baking bread during recent food tech sessions. This wasn’t any ordinary bread however – we had some interesting designs and some tasty decorations!

Different skills were needed as part of the learning. The pupils took care whilst mixing all the ingredients together. This was the first time that some of the class members had used a kneading technique to release the air bubbles from the dough.

Once the mixture was made the pupils started to shape their designs. One idea was to style the bread in the shape of a snail. We carefully placed the bread in the oven and waited for it to bake.

The final task was to decorate the bread with some unique flavours. Raisins, poppy seeds and sesame seeds were all used to add in features such as the eyes and antenna of the snails.
