Class 8MA are learning about animals and their environments as our main science topic. We have started this work by looking at pets. This is a theme where the pupils already have plenty of knowledge.
The pupils have thought about different types of places where pets might live. These include in the home, in a cage or in a bowl full of water. We have spoken about why each setting is best for the pets that live there.
Table activities have taken place to support this learning. Some of the learners have drawn a line to match a pet with the correct habitat. Another activity has seen the pupils matching a pet with the correct word.
Some of the higher lever learners have learnt new vocabulary such as lizard, hamster and turtle. They have written a short sentence to explain where these pets like to live. All the Class 8MA pupils have learnt the makaton signs for various pets.
