Purple Class Under the Sea Reading and PECS Progress

Purple Class are reading the book Under the Sea for the first half of the spring term. The children are exploring sensory activities based around some of the characters in the book. We have looked for fish buried in the sand tray.

Fish have also helped us with our early maths counting. The Purple Class children are counting from one to three using pictures of fish to help us.

Other activities include our regular one-on-one PECS session. Pairs of pupils work with the PECS team each week as part of their introduction to the Picture Exchange Communication system.

This is the foundation for communication for pupils throughout Turney School. The aim for the Purple Class children is to recognise that they get a reward if they use a PECS picture card to request a toy.
