Yellow Class Summer Fun Learning at Turney School

Yellow Class are continuing to read I Want my Hat Back as part of their literacy learning for the summer term. This tells the story of a bear who lost his hat in the forest. He asks the other animals if they have seen his hat.

We have created a class display themed around this book. Each class member has decorated a paper plate to show one of the key characters in the story.

Our topic for The World Around Me this term is the summer season. We have used our craft time to make some flowers and butterflies. We are exploring different insects and fruits that grow on trees.

The children enjoyed a recent table activity which involved placing some leaves and apples on a puppet tree. They are asked to keep count of how many leaves and apples they are able to attach to the tree.

Yellow Class are also learning about transport and vehicles. We have been finding out how we all travel to school. We are also learning about the transport used by the police, the fire service and ambulance drivers. The children are learning how to recognise the different types of vehicles and how they are able to help us.
