The Year 16+ students recently designed and created a very tasty sushi dish as part of their food tech learning. One of the main learning aims was to think about the different layers involved, and how we can build them up.
We started with some rice paper as our base. We then spread the rice evenly over the rice paper.
The next addition was some salmon. The students were asked to chop this in to an appropriate size. They were given the option of adding in some sliced avocado.
The tricky part of this task was then to use the bamboo mat to roll the sushi. We then carefully sliced them into small portions.
Washing up followed, and then we had a shared class tasting session. The students were asked to describe how the sushi tasted.
